Nachtmystium's third (and massively well-received / breakthrough) record from 2006. A full on voyage through murky black psychedelia unlike anything anyone had really heard before at the time.

This album has withstood the test of time. It's been performed live in it's entirety on three occasions (and recorded as the "Live Decay: Roadburn Rites 2012" digipak CD / digital release in April, 2012). It's the most common record I am told is people's favorite Nachtmystium album. It's also in Decibel Magazines hall of fame.

Released by the bands own Battle Kommand Records (with distribution aid via Southern Lord Recordings) in May, 2006. CD / LP (vinyl released first pressing by Profound Lore PFL005!) / Pic LP (Profound Lore / Autopsy Kitchen Recs)

Gatefold LP reissue in 2010 on Back on Black, UK.

In 2016, Earache Records purchased the rights to "Instinct: Decay" and much of the early Nachtmystium back catalog from Blake Judd. These funds from this transaction is how Blake (and the band as a whole) was able to pay to relocate to Southern California in December, 2016, where he and the band reside to this day.
